Zhuwo Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The named section is located in Rilangda Valley, Zhuwo District, Luhuo County, Sichuan Province. In view of the fact that "Xiatigu Fm" has no exact geographical location, poor outcrops within the general reference zone and unclear structure, it is suggested to abandon the "Xiatigu Fm" and establish another "Zhuowu Fm". The strata with similar lithology, horizon and distribution to the Zhuowu Fm were once called the "Kuiji Fm" by the Aviation Division of Sichuan Geological Bureau (1977).
Synonym: The Jurassic Wo Gr is equivalent to the "Xiatigu Group" named by the third district of Sichuan Geological Bureau in 1974. The "Xikang Group" symposium of Sichuan Geological Bureau was named in 1975, and quoted publicly for the first time by the regional survey team of Sichuan Geological Bureau and Nanjing Institute of Geology and Palaeontology, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1982.
Lithology and Thickness
It is composed of a set of light gray to gray, medium to thick fine-grained feldspar quartz sandstone and dark gray carbonaceous and silty slate with unequal thickness interbedded. Its thickness is 515.6 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The close interbedding of sandstone and slates at the bottom and the thick sandstone of the underlying Zagunao Fm are conformable contacts.
Upper contact
The black slates at the bottom of the overlying Xinduqiao Fm at the top are conformable contacts.
